It is said the Universe ‘hums in B♭’. Vibration can have a powerful influence on things and circumstances. There are fields of research in this area, and we know that sound/vibration is considered a viable healing method. I've often wondered if we might be able to affect the processes of peace making in our chaotic world through the simple act of singing, playing music, creating a daily practice around sounding certain notes. This idea became the prompt for the Octave artworks, each of these works carries a different ‘note’ from the scale of B♭ Minor.
